THE HEART SUTRA

One who looked deeply, practicing wisdom gone all the way beyond, saw clearly that the five parts a person is made of are each empty of a fixed self, and in that seeing passed through all suffering.

Listen: form is no other than emptiness, emptiness no other than form. Form is exactly emptiness, emptiness exactly form. Feeling, perception, impulse, and awareness are the same way.

Listen: all things bear the mark of emptiness. They are not born and not destroyed, not stained and not pure, not gained and not lost.

So in emptiness there is no form, no feeling, perception, impulse, or awareness. No eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind. No sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, or thought. No world of seeing, and so on, all the way to no world of thinking.

There is no ignorance and no end of ignorance, and so on, all the way to no aging and death and no end of aging and death. No suffering, no cause of it, no ending of it, no path out of it. No wisdom to get and nothing to attain, because there was never anything lacking.

Resting on wisdom gone beyond, the mind holds nothing and is held by nothing. With no hindrance there is no fear. Far past every delusion, it comes to rest in perfect peace.

Every awakened one, past, present, and still to come, rests on this same wisdom gone beyond, and so wakes fully and completely.

So know that this wisdom is the great saying, the saying of great clarity, the highest saying, the saying beyond compare, that ends all suffering, and is true, not false.

And the saying is this:

Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone all the way beyond. Awake. So it is.
